Greenpeace Romania announced the amendment of Emergency Ordinance no. 163/2022, which will allow energy communities to install and manage renewable sources at the local level. These communities will be able to share the energy produced, creating jobs and increasing social inclusion, thus contributing to the reduction of energy poverty.
The new legislative framework clarifies the establishment and operation of these communities, setting rules for energy exchange among members. The project, supported by 51 municipalities and organizations, will provide funding, technical assistance, and tax exemptions for low-income households. ANRE will develop the necessary norms and methodologies, having clear deadlines for the establishment of the Energy Communities Register and the analysis of costs and benefits of sharing renewable energy.
