The spokesperson for the Kremlin stated that there have been contacts between the intelligence services of Russia and the United States, but there was no meeting with the Russian president, Vladimir Putin. Peskov characterized these contacts as "positive," but he avoided providing details about the topics discussed. He emphasized that it is premature to assess the impact of these contacts on Russian-American relations, which are in a deep crisis.
So far, no other meetings are planned. Peskov mentioned that Putin was informed about the outcome of the discussions held by American officials, in the context of the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine and the difficulties in reaching a peace agreement with Iran. He added that although these contacts are a positive aspect, it cannot be anticipated to what extent they will contribute to improving bilateral relations.
