A malaria outbreak has been identified at Frankfurt Airport, Germany, where six employees have been infected, and one of them has died.

A spokesperson for the airport stated that the other five infected employees are receiving medical treatment. Following the incident, traps have been set up to capture mosquitoes, which will be analyzed in a laboratory to determine their species and origin.

The Robert Koch Institute has confirmed that the infections occurred between July 4 and 6, and the mosquitoes are believed to have been brought in by a plane. According to the Institute, malaria generally affects people traveling in endemic areas in Germany, and transmission at airports is rare. Delayed diagnosis can worsen patients' conditions, and authorities encourage employees to consult doctors if they exhibit symptoms.

Malaria, a disease transmitted by mosquito bites, can be prevented and treated, but it can have severe symptoms.
