PNL MP Alexandru Muraru accused the Social Democrats on Friday of trying to block, through the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP), the formation of a possible PNL-USR alliance ahead of the 2028 elections.
Muraru claims that the AEP, headed by Adrian Țuțuianu, has allegedly begun efforts to introduce obstacles to such a political arrangement. The liberal says that legislation regarding the establishment and deregistration of political parties, as well as the right to associate in political alliances, must not be established through a bill initiated by the Government and promoted by an institution he considers politically controlled.
The MP calls for changes to electoral legislation to be made in Parliament, through a transparent debate in which all parliamentary parties participate. He accuses the PSD of seeking to control both state institutions and the rules of political competition ahead of the 2028 election.
In this context, Muraru announced that the PNL will support the depoliticization of the AEP by establishing a supervisory council with representatives of all parliamentary parties. According to the liberal, this structure would ensure the Parliament's effective exercise of oversight over the authority. The accusations were not accompanied, in the cited statement, by a reaction from the PSD or the AEP.
