USR Deputy Alexandru Dimitriu reacted ironically to the proposed party law project by the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP), led by Adrian Zăbăuianu, accusing PSD of wanting to turn Romania into a "Grindeanu-Zăbăuianu Republic".
The project stipulates that parties should be registered or dissolved by the AEP, not by the Bucharest Tribunal, and establishes that a party can be legally established if it has 100 founding members, instead of three, which are currently required by existing legislation.
Dimitriu emphasized that this normative act gives the AEP increased powers, allowing it to decide who can establish or dissolve a party. He accused PSD of, despite presenting itself as being in opposition, assuming the right to control the existence of other parties. The project could also affect political alliances, including the one between USR and PNL, which could be rejected by the AEP, according to the deputy.
Dimitriu warned that the proposed changes could lead to the dissolution of parties due to delays in submitting documents, which could turn the AEP into an institution with legislative and executive powers.
