The leader of the USR senators, Sorin Șipoș, announced that the party will contest at the Constitutional Court the law project regarding integrity, recently adopted by the Senate, mentioning that it includes two articles considered "toxic" that contradict the rule of law.

Șipoș stated that PSD aims to "remove from the game" the mayor of Timișoara, Dominic Fritz, elected twice, through these amendments.

Although USR senators voted mixed to ensure the fulfillment of a milestone from the PNRR, Șipoș emphasized that the law contains serious issues, including retroactive sanctions, contrary to the Constitution. He criticized PSD for attempting to eliminate their political opponents, comparing their actions to "communist purges."

Sorin Șipoș also mentioned that USR will collaborate with PNL to gather the necessary signatures to contest the law at the CCR.

The project was adopted with 105 votes "for", eight "against" and seven abstentions, including the contested amendments.
