Bucharest entered the Book of Records with “The Table That Unites.” Ciucu: “There was a big dining room today, in Constitution Square”

Bucharest set a world record on Saturday after 20,000 people sat down at the longest table in the world, stretching for five kilometers between Constitution Square and Unirii Square. The record was certified on site by a Guinness World Records representative.

The “Table That Unites” event also had a charitable purpose. The donations raised will support the construction of Romania’s first pediatric psychiatric hospital, being built on the grounds of the “Prof. Dr. Alexandru Obregia” Hospital in the capital by the Metropolis Foundation.

General Mayor Ciprian Ciucu congratulated the organizers from Untold and described the event as the city’s “great dining room.” He emphasized that Bucharest residents came together not only to set the record, but also to support an important social cause.

Some 20,000 portions of food were prepared for participants, using more than five tons of ingredients. The menu included traditional dishes, desserts, and fruit. Bucharest City Hall said the event was dedicated to the community, solidarity, and fundraising for the new hospital.
