More than 4,000 Romanians will plant trees in Poienarii Burchii in an attempt to set a world record

More than 4,000 adults and approximately 800 minors are registered for the mass planting event organized on Saturday in the commune of Poienarii Burchii, Prahova County. The “Forest of Friendship” event aims to set a new world record for the largest number of people planting trees simultaneously.

To validate the attempt, each participant over the age of 16 must correctly plant at least one sapling within the time frame set by the organizers. The current record is 2,055 participants and was set in India in July 2025.

After the record attempt, planting will continue, with the overall goal for the day being to establish a new forest by planting 35,000 ash, maple, cherry and honey locust saplings.

The event is organized by the Act for Tomorrow Association and Kaufland Romania, with the support of the Ministry of Environment. More than 50 companies, as well as communities from five universities and three forestry high schools, are taking part in the preparations. Volunteers will receive the necessary tools, gloves, water, snacks and hot meal.
