Former President Traian Băsescu stated on B1 TV that early elections no longer represent a realistic scenario and that the current government will remain in office until the parliamentary elections in 2028.
“No, I say this is the government with which we will go until the 2028 elections,” Băsescu emphasized.
In his opinion, the PNL and USR entering opposition could change the balance of power on the political scene. Băsescu argues that the formation of a right-wing opposition, through cooperation between PNL and USR, would offer voters an alternative to the current government. He believes that AUR would no longer have a monopoly over dissatisfaction with the government and estimates that the party will not exceed 30% in the next elections.
“Voters will find an alternative to the Government. Until now, the alternative was AUR, but at this point the liberals and USR can create a political structure capable of being a credible opposition, and then what I said about two months ago will come true: AUR will not exceed 30 percent in the elections,” Traian Băsescu also stated on Tuesday evening, on B1 TV.
