The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced that an agreement regarding security guarantees from the United States is '100% ready' for signing, following discussions with Russia in Abu Dhabi. In a press conference in Vilnius, Zelensky emphasized the importance of these guarantees for Ukraine's security and mentioned that the document will be sent to the U.S. Congress and the Ukrainian Parliament for ratification. He also reaffirmed Ukraine's goal of joining the European Union by 2027, considering it an 'economic security guarantee.' Discussions between Ukrainian and Russian negotiators took place in the United Arab Emirates, but no agreement was reached. However, both parties expressed openness to dialogue, and new discussions are expected to take place next week. Zelensky acknowledged the fundamental differences between Ukraine's and Russia's positions, especially regarding territorial issues. The Kremlin insists that for a peace agreement to be reached, Ukraine must withdraw its troops from the eastern regions illegally annexed by Russia. Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine will not give up its territorial integrity, thus highlighting the deep divergences between the two parties.
