Volodymyr Zelenskyy, after meeting with the American envoys: It seems that the war with Russia will continue this winter as well

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday in Kyiv, following meetings with U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, that the war with Russia appears likely to continue into next winter. The talks were described as positive, but did not result in a concrete agreement on ending the conflict.

Zelensky stressed that the main issue remains the territorial dispute and argued that it can be resolved only through a direct meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and Russia. At the same time, he called for continued Western military and economic support, emphasizing the need for additional resources for air defense.

National security advisers from France, Germany and the United Kingdom also took part in the meeting in Kyiv. Another meeting between Ukrainian officials, the U.S. envoys and European representatives is scheduled for the coming weeks.

Steve Witkoff said that both Russia and Ukraine must accept compromises to reach a diplomatic solution. The day before, he and Jared Kushner had held three-hour talks in Moscow with Vladimir Putin and presented him with a new peace proposal, the details of which have not been made public.
