The Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that he will not attend the G20 summit, scheduled for November 22 and 23 in South Africa, after his counterparts, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, also canceled their attendance. This will be the first time that the three most powerful countries in the group will not be represented by their leaders.
Putin decided not to participate due to an international arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court, with the Russian delegation being led by Maksim Oreshkin.
Trump threatened to boycott the summit, accusing South Africa of abuses against white farmers and land confiscation, without providing evidence. He has suspended aid to South Africa, citing a controversial land expropriation law aimed at addressing persistent racial inequalities.
