Zelensky ready to meet Putin at G20 / Kremlin says Russian leader’s attendance has not been decided

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Saturday that he is ready to meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin at the G20 summit, scheduled to take place in December in Miami, if both are invited. His statement comes as Moscow has not yet decided whether Putin will attend the meeting.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian authorities do not yet know whether the president will travel to Miami. Earlier, presidential adviser Yuri Ushakov had said that the possibility of Putin’s participation had not even been discussed in Moscow.

In April, the Kremlin said that Putin might attend the summit, after U.S. President Donald Trump suggested that the Russian leader’s presence could be useful.

Asked about Zelenskyy’s proposal, Peskov reiterated Moscow’s position: if the Ukrainian president wants a meeting with Putin, he should travel to Moscow. There is currently no official confirmation regarding the participation of the two leaders in the G20 summit.
