Zelensky willing to meet Putin at G20 summit in Miami

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was willing to meet Russian leader Vladimir Putin at the G20 summit in Miami, scheduled for December 14 and 15, if both are invited. He made the statement on Friday in an interview with German broadcaster Deutsche Welle, published on Saturday, amid intensifying diplomatic efforts to end the war.

Asked whether he would attend a meeting with Putin, Zelensky answered in the affirmative. He stressed that it is important for leaders to talk and make decisions, noting that the outcome of any negotiations matters more than the participants’ statements.

The United States, which holds the G20 presidency this year, is seeking to revive stalled negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner recently visited both Moscow and Kyiv, and Zelensky described the trip as a positive signal, saying they had presented “some good ideas.”

The Ukrainian leader announced that a new round of trilateral talks between Ukraine, Russia and the United States could take place this month in Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland or another country. Meanwhile, fighting continues, with Russia and Ukraine intensifying attacks on logistical and economic targets.
