According to a UN report, 2.1 billion people do not have access to safe drinking water, exposing billions to health risks. Although 961 million people have gained access to safe drinking water since 2015, the goal of universal access by 2030 is becoming increasingly difficult to achieve. Girls are the most vulnerable, bearing the responsibility of collecting water, and inequalities in access to water and sanitation affect the health and education of children.
