Thailand and Cambodia announced on Saturday the signing of a ceasefire agreement to end weeks of intense fighting along the border, which has resulted in the deaths of over 100 people and the displacement of more than half a million civilians from both countries. The defense ministers of both countries stated that both parties agree to an immediate ceasefire, starting from the time of signing the joint declaration.
The agreement provides for the maintenance of the current troop deployment without further movements and applies to all types of weapons, prohibiting attacks on civilians, civilian targets and infrastructure, as well as on military targets of both parties. This ceasefire ends 20 days of fighting, the most severe between the two neighbors in Southeast Asia in recent years.
