Farmers from several agricultural sectors are protesting today in Victory Square in Bucharest, dissatisfied with the situation in livestock farming and agriculture. The demonstration is scheduled to begin at 10:00, but it has not gone through the legal authorization procedure, and participants are assuming the risk of fines.

Beekeepers, cereal growers, vegetable growers, and sheep farmers are expected at the protest. Sheep farmers are accusing the authorities of blocking live animal exports, managing outbreaks of sheep pox and smallpox, as well as delaying compensation for slaughtered animals. The demands include the resignation of ANSVSA President Alexandru Bociu and rejection of the plan regarding animal vaccination.

The farmers say they will submit a list of 15 requests to the Government and are prepared to remain in the capital for several days. The Romovis Federation states that it did not initiate the protest, with participation being an individual decision. On July 30, sheep farmers protested at the ANSVSA headquarters.

The Bucharest Gendarmerie will set up checkpoints, inspect luggage and shipments of animals and agri-food products, and warns that traffic in the area may be restricted. The authorities recommend civilized behavior and prohibit access with weapons, hazardous materials, or blunt objects.
