The Ministry of National Defence scrambled two F-16 aircraft on the night of Tuesday, September 15, after military radars detected several aerial targets in Ukraine, near the border with Romania. No target entered national airspace, and the air alert ended at 5:18 a.m.
The first target was detected around 3:10 a.m., approximately 35 kilometers north of Chilia. Two F-16 aircraft, on air policing combat duty at the 86th Borcea Air Base, took off to monitor the situation.
The National Military Command Center informed the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, and the population in the north of Tulcea County received a RO-Alert message at 3:18 a.m.
At around 4:20 a.m., the radars detected two more targets, approximately 30 kilometers north of Periprava. A second RO-Alert message was sent at 4:51 a.m.
