Maria Malmer Stenergard, the Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs, emphasized Ukraine's willingness to accept a ceasefire and to negotiate, in contrast to Russia's position, which has shown no openness for dialogue. Sweden and the European Union maintain the position that borders cannot be changed by force, reaffirming that the Ukrainian territories occupied by Russia remain Ukrainian. Stenergard clearly stated that Sweden will not recognize the annexation of Crimea or other territories by Russia and will not reward aggression.
She also emphasized that there should be no restrictions imposed on the number of Ukrainian soldiers. Sweden has a support plan for Ukraine and for weakening Russia, while expecting a framework peace document, prepared by Ukraine and the USA, to emphasize respect for Ukraine's sovereignty. Other countries, such as Germany, France, and the United Kingdom, are working on counterproposals to improve the Peace Plan proposed by the USA.
