Sweden will hand over the cargo ship Caffa to Ukraine, confiscated in March, which is transporting stolen Ukrainian grain from occupied territories. The Supreme Court of Sweden has rejected the shipowner's appeal, thus upholding previous decisions to hand over the ship and its cargo.
Caffa, a 96-meter ship, was intercepted by Swedish police on March 6 while sailing under a false flag. The ship is on Ukraine's sanctions list and is suspected of being uninsured. According to Ukrainian authorities, Caffa has been involved in the theft of grain from occupied territories, including transporting a cargo from the port of Sevastopol. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister welcomed the decision, considering it an important precedent in combating the Russian phantom fleet that evades Western sanctions.
