Today marks the resumption of the search for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, which disappeared in 2014 with 239 people on board. After nearly 12 years, the search will utilize autonomous underwater drones capable of scanning depths of up to 20,000 ft. Flight MH370 took off from Kuala Lumpur and disappeared from civilian radars after 40 minutes, turning back to the west. The initial search covered a vast area, but has now been narrowed down to approximately 5,800 sq.miles. Ocean Infinity, the company responsible for the search, hopes to unveil the mystery using sonar technology and ultrasound imaging. So far, fewer than 30 fragments of the plane have been found on various shores, but no remains of the crew or passengers have been discovered. The Malaysian government has agreed to pay 70 million dollars to the company, but this will only be paid if the plane is found. This could solve one of the greatest mysteries in aviation history.
