Vladimir Putin will travel to Alaska next week for a meeting with President Donald Trump, safe in the knowledge that he will not be arrested, despite an international warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for war crimes. Neither Russia nor the US are signatories to the Rome Statute, meaning the warrant cannot be enforced. Also, signatory countries such as Mongolia have not acted on the mandate in the past. Putin has been cautious with his travel itineraries since issuing the mandate in March 2023.
