Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky are set to meet in Washington

The President of the USA, Donald Trump, and the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, are set to meet in Washington, according to a White House official. Zelensky intends to travel to the United States, awaiting official confirmation of Trump's schedule. Ukrainian and American officials are discussing a proposal for a ceasefire, part of a new round of peace proposals to end the war that began in February 2022.

Although Ukraine has made previous offers for a ceasefire to Russia, these have been rejected, but the economic pressure on Russia could influence Putin's position. Zelensky recently discussed with American envoys the resumption of peace negotiations and may have additional meetings in the USA. Zelensky also mentioned that he will attend the funeral of Senator Lindsey Graham, a supporter of Ukraine, who recently passed away.
