The Japanese Ministry of Finance announced that Japan has lost the title of the world's biggest creditor in 2024, being overtaken by Germany with net foreign assets of 569.651 trillion yen, compared to Japan's 533.050 trillion yen. Although Japan recorded a 12.9% increase in net foreign assets, the government downplayed the significance of the change, stressing that fluctuations are influenced by many economic factors.
