North Korea has vehemently criticized Japan's plans to increase its national defense budget, accusing Tokyo of preparing for an 'aggressive war'.
The Japanese Ministry of Defense has requested a record sum of 8.9 trillion yen, equivalent to 48 billion euros, for the next budgetary exercise. The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) stated that this request demonstrates a 'dangerous increase' in military spending, which will generate new crises in the region. Japan, which is moving away from its pacifist position, is strengthening its military spending and deploying missile launchers on islands.
In this context, the United States is adjusting its military exercises with South Korea, while China expresses its concern over Japan's militarization. The Japanese government, led by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, is reviewing its national defense strategy, while the Minister of Defense reaffirms Japan's commitment to peace.
