At the border crossing point in Nickelsdorf, Austria, a Romanian citizen was stopped by police while transporting 42 pets in a minibus. The dogs were crammed into too small cages and had dirty fur, signs of neglect in their care during the journey. The driver claimed that the animals were to be donated to animal protection organizations in Austria and Germany, and the authorities decided to allow the transport to continue, considering that returning would have been more stressful for the animals.

However, six cats were stopped because they did not have the necessary veterinary documents. The transport of animals from Romania is strictly regulated at the European level, and non-compliance with the rules can lead to severe penalties.
