Four Romanians were arrested in the Austrian state of Carinthia, following the discovery of a gang involved in the theft of electric scooters and bicycles. The investigation began on Sunday when a woman found abandoned goods on a country road in the locality of Magdalensberg and alerted the police.
At the scene, authorities found that this was not the first discovery of this kind, having previously recovered three other bicycles suspected of being stolen. A 19-year-old Romanian was arrested while heading towards the abandoned goods, having a stolen electric scooter in his possession.
Two other Romanians, aged 27 and 39, tried to escape through a cornfield but were caught. A fourth Romanian, aged 48, was found at the home of the main suspect, where the police seized suspicious items. The four were taken to the police station in Grafenstein for questioning and later returned to the Federal Office for Foreigners and Asylum in Austria.
