The government in Berlin has initiated a bill aimed at limiting the increase in fuel prices, according to information provided by BILD. The project allows gas stations to raise prices only once a day, at noon, and those who violate this rule risk fines of up to 100,000 euros. Although the aim is to stabilize prices, experts warn that these measures could have the opposite effect. Price reductions remain allowed without restriction, and German authorities are drawing inspiration from a similar model applied in Austria. The project also includes measures to strengthen antitrust legislation, requiring companies to justify price increases and giving authorities more control powers. The government hopes that these regulations will reduce pressure on consumers in the context of rising energy prices caused by international conflicts. The project is set to be discussed quickly in parliament.
