The Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev, sent a clear message to Washington, announcing that American military aircraft will only be allowed to remain on Bulgarian territory until the end of June. The decision comes as a result of the United States' refusal to lift visa requirements for Bulgarian citizens. Radev emphasized that Sofia cannot accept the long-term stationing of American aircraft and armored vehicles at the capital's airport without progress regarding the visa regime.
Although he recently discussed this issue with American President Donald Trump and requested an urgent review, he did not receive a favorable response. Bulgaria is currently hosting American military aircraft under an agreement that expires at the end of May, and Radev announced that the government will make a decision to extend the stationing until the end of June, thus giving the United States time to reconsider their position.
