American President Donald Trump expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev, after the Parliament in Sofia authorized the temporary stationing of American military aircraft at the Bezmer airbase.

The decision, adopted on July 22 with 136 votes in favor, allows the deployment of up to eight KC-135 aircraft, used for refueling, and approximately 250 American soldiers, from July 24 to October 1, 2026. The Bulgarian government emphasized that the aircraft will only carry out logistical missions, without combat operations.

However, the decision has sparked reactions from Iran, which sent a diplomatic note warning that Bulgaria could become complicit in American actions. Bulgarian authorities have rejected these accusations and assured that security measures for the population have been analyzed.
