During a phone conversation between the foreign ministers of Iran and Cyprus, Abbas Araghchi emphasized "the necessity to prevent any hostile forces from using foreign military bases located on the territory of Cyprus to carry out acts of aggression against Iran."

In a separate conversation with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova-Chamova, Araghchi asked her to reconsider the Bulgarian government's decision to allow American military aircraft to use one of its bases for military operations.
