Boeing's CEO, Kelly Ortberg, announced the company's intention to increase the production rate for the 737 Max model from 42 to 47 aircraft per month, starting this summer. This decision is essential for reducing financial losses, considering that Boeing reported an adjusted loss of 20 cents per share in the first quarter, well below analysts' estimates. The company's revenues increased by 14% compared to last year, reaching $22.22 billion. Although the commercial airplane division delivered 143 aircraft, it remains at an operational loss. Increasing production requires approval from the Federal Aviation Administration, following a safety incident in January 2024. Ortberg, who has been leading the company since August 2024, aims to recover Boeing after a difficult period. The company estimates that certification for the 737 Max 7 and 737 Max 10 variants will occur by the end of the year, with deliveries scheduled for 2027.
