Three men of Romanian origin have been charged in Italy with aggravated theft, suspected of having stolen more than 3,100 meters of copper cables from the headquarters of the electricity company Dobbiaco SpA. The damage is estimated at approximately 45,000 euros.
The theft took place during the night, in July 2025, in the town of Dobbiaco, in the province of Bolzano. The investigation was conducted by the Carabinieri from Dobbiaco and San Candido, who managed to identify the suspects by correlating several pieces of evidence.
A few hours before the crime was committed, the three men had been stopped for a check on State Road 49. In the trunk of the car, the Carabinieri found a pair of pliers and several work tools, items that attracted the investigators' attention.
Subsequently, the Carabinieri analyzed footage captured by surveillance cameras and witness statements. Comparing this information with the data obtained during the traffic stop made it possible to reconstruct the sequence of events and identify the three suspects.
The investigation concluded with the three men being charged with aggravated theft. The suspects benefit from the presumption of innocence until a final judgment is issued.
