USR Gorj President and MP Radu Miruță said on Saturday, at the USR Congress in Timișoara, that opposition does not represent a break for the party and that the formation is maintaining its goal of building a reformist bloc capable of winning the next elections.
Miruță argued that USR ministers had demonstrated, in the three ministries where they served, that they could change old practices in public administration. He accused the Social Democratic Party (PSD) of lamenting its return to the ministries and the disappearance of certain “arrangements” that USR ministers had allegedly replaced with stricter rules and responsible people.
The MP said that USR had unanimously rejected a Government led, in his view, from the PSD headquarters and supported by a majority that includes AUR. He also criticized statements by the Social Democrats about alleged problems in the budget and made ironic remarks about some PSD leaders.
Radu Miruță outlined three commitments: permanently monitoring the Government’s activity, putting forward concrete proposals in response to every criticism, and expanding the party beyond the major cities. He said that USR aims to win 100 mayoralties and attract voters who did not vote for the formation. The USR Congress is set to elect the party’s new National Bureau.
