A Romanian man was caught by the Carabinieri after forcing his way through a company’s fence in Italy and stealing copper cables

A 36-year-old Romanian man was caught by the Carabinieri while attempting to flee with goods stolen from a window and door company in San Biagio di Callalta, in the province of Treviso. The incident occurred during the night of September 23–24, on Via Giovanni Prati.

According to investigators, the man damaged the fence of Panto Finestre srl, entered the building and stole five bundles of copper electrical cables, as well as several tools. He allegedly attempted to leave the area in his own car, but was caught red-handed by the Carabinieri from San Biagio di Callalta, assisted by colleagues from Treviso.

The intervention was prompted after the company’s owner activated the alarm system. Law enforcement officers fully recovered the stolen goods and returned them to the owner. The suspect, who was already known to police, is being investigated for attempted aggravated theft and possession of offensive objects, according to Treviso Today.

The arrest was validated on Thursday morning, following the preliminary hearing. The court ordered the man to remain in Monfalcone, where he lives, under house arrest between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
