In Dolj County, the school year 2024-2025 has brought an alarming increase in cases of violence in schools, with 446 incidents reported, compared to 64 in the period 2021-2022. Of these, 249 occurred in rural areas and 197 in urban areas. The most common forms of violence were minor cases among students, including unwanted touching, spitting, and insults, totaling 314 cases. Additionally, 35 cases of bullying and 32 cases of physical harm were recorded. The director of CJRAE Dolj, Mariana Pădureanu, emphasized that the pandemic contributed to the increase of the cyberbullying phenomenon, but most of the cases reported now are related to physical violence in schools. Although statistics show a low number of cyberbullying cases, it is estimated that the reality is more severe, as not all incidents are reported. The causes of violence are complex, including economic, social, and environmental factors, and the lack of collaboration from families complicates interventions. CJRAE Dolj has implemented violence prevention programs, but the involvement of the entire community is necessary to address the issue. School unit directors acknowledge that violence is a serious problem, but emphasize that, in some cases, the situation is under control, managing conflicts through counseling and educational interventions.
