TAROM has decided that the new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft will bear the name of Ivan Patzaichin, a symbol of Romanian sport and Olympic champion.

The announcement was made on Wednesday during a ceremony attended by Ivan Patzaichin's family and the general director of TAROM, Cristian Anghel. This initiative is part of a broader program by the company to associate its aircraft with the names of emblematic personalities of Romania.

The initiative began in 2024, when the aircraft "Nadia Comăneci" was the first to bear the name of a Romanian athlete. TAROM, established in 1954, operates a fleet of 10 aircraft and offers access to over 50 destinations.
