The Association of Automobile Producers and Importers (APIA) reported a significant decrease in new car registrations in February 2026, with a total volume of 8,903 units, representing a decrease of 24.4% compared to the same month of the previous year.

This contraction of the automotive market occurs in a tense context, characterized by a difficult relationship between authorities and the automotive sector. Industry representatives have emphasized that the lack of predictability in public policies has become a major factor of instability. Criticisms target the delays and unpredictability of the Rabla Program, which have affected consumers' purchasing decisions. Although the overall market has decreased, the segment of electrified vehicles continues to gain popularity.
