According to the "Diaspora Sentiment 2026" survey conducted by Mkor, 61% of Romanians in the diaspora have invested in Romania through financial support for family or real estate, but 70% exclude returning to the country in the next 12 months.
Germany stands out with the highest investment rate (71%), while the diaspora from the United Kingdom has the most advanced economic profile, with 29% in leadership roles and 62% with higher education. Each community in the diaspora has distinct financial needs, with Italy focusing on heritage protection, Germany on predictability, Spain on nostalgic consumption, and the United Kingdom on financial returns.
Additionally, Moldova represents a hub of young human capital for Romania, ideal for attracting through bank accounts across the border and internship programs.
The socio-professional profile of Romanians in business shows stability, with 44% employees and 23% managers or entrepreneurs.
The report was conducted on a sample of 2,000 respondents aged between 18 and 65 years.
