The Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, announced the adoption of a bill that will facilitate the resumption of work on seven strategic hydropower plants, essential for Romania's energy security. These projects will add 214 MW of energy to the national system, thus contributing to the country's energy independence. The targeted plants include Răstolița, Bumbești-Livezeni, Surduc-Siriu, Pașcani, Cerna-Belareca, Cornetu-Avrig/Căineni, and Cerna Motru-Tismana II.
Additionally, the CSAT declared the completion of these works as a national security project. Many of these hydropower plants were started during the Ceaușescu regime and were not completed for various bureaucratic reasons. The resumption of these works will generate jobs and ensure long-term energy stability.
