The former Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, announces that starting Monday, the Turceni Power Plant will return with more energy to the National Energy System, after Group 5, which was shut down a few days ago due to a technical failure, will be able to be put back into operation.

He criticized the management of the water capture issue, stating that the authorities should have intervened earlier to maintain an adequate water level. The government announced emergency measures to ensure the water flow necessary for cooling the Cernavodă Plant, including dredging works and increasing the flow from the accumulations on the Olt River. Romania has been in a state of energy alert since August 1, after the shutdown of the first reactor at Cernavodă due to low Danube flows.

"Starting tomorrow, the Turceni Power Plant will return with more energy to the National Energy System. Group 5, which was shut down a few days ago due to a technical failure, will be able to be put back into operation.

I discussed today with representatives of the Oltenia Energy Complex, and if the works proceed according to plan, starting tomorrow things will function normally, just as they do at Rovinari.

I want to thank the people at Turceni and throughout the Oltenia Energy Complex, who are doing everything they can to keep the National Energy System balanced, now when the energy situation of the country remains complicated and when Romania needs reliable, available production and timely decisions.

We relied on coal-generated energy during the winter and we are relying on it now," wrote Bogdan Ivan on Facebook.
