The Minister of Environment, Diana Buzoianu, announced that there are over 4000 constructions suspected of being illegal in the coastal area of Romania, many of which have been kept in a report filed away for three years.

Following a visit to the beach in Năvodari, Buzoianu mentioned that last year 105 illegal constructions were identified, of which 90 have already been demolished. The remaining ones have been restored to the function for which they received permits. The Minister explained that the mechanism through which these illegal constructions emerged involves the transfer of land from state ownership to that of administrative-territorial units (UATs), which subsequently sold them as private properties. Buzoianu emphasized that all suspicious constructions have begun legal proceedings and that a study will be used as evidence in court.
