The interim Minister of Environment, Diana Buzoianu, announced on social media that the Forestry Guard has identified over 800 illegally cut trees following inspections carried out in five compartments of the private forest district Pădurea Bogății.
Initially, nearly 400 trees were discovered in a single compartment, and subsequently, extensive checks revealed another approximately 400 illegally cut trees in four other compartments. Buzoianu criticized the response of the forestry officials, who downplayed the seriousness of the situation, stating that for them, illegal logging seems to be a normal occurrence.
The Forestry Guard will continue inspections and will apply the necessary legal measures, and the damages identified will be charged to the forest ranger responsible for the affected area, who failed to identify the illegal logging.
