Interim Environment Minister Diana Buzoianu announced Thursday that she had signed the Control Body’s report on hunting activities organized in January 2026 at the Iași Forestry Directorate, part of Romsilva. The checks examined how these hunting events were organized and attended.
According to the minister, directors of forestry directorates from other counties took part in the hunts on working days. Buzoianu named the director of the Botoșani Forestry Directorate, Marius Havriș, and the director of the Ialomița Forestry Directorate, Nicușor Niță, whom she says assigned themselves work duties in order to participate in the activities organized in Iași.
According to statements published by the minister, the report shows that day laborers also took part in the hunts, some of them relatives or acquaintances of Romsilva employees, as well as guests from outside the state-owned forestry company. They allegedly did not pay the organization fees, and some participants reportedly paid no amount officially.
The Control Body called for clear rules to be established for future activities, including identifying the Romsilva personnel who may participate, requiring external guests to pay the fees, and recovering any losses. The minister publicly criticized the way the events were organized, arguing that the participating directors had not submitted official reports to justify the trips as work-related.
