Interim Environment Minister Diana Buzoianu announced on Monday the launch of the Forest Guard’s digital platform, through which all petitions, reports and inspections concerning forestry activities will be recorded. The platform aims to increase transparency and make checks more efficient in cases of illegal logging.
Citizens who file reports will be able to track their status online, the outcome of the inspection and any measures ordered. The same system will record identified damages and fines imposed. The data will allow comparisons of the activities of inspectors and forest guards, including inspections carried out, illegal logging and recovered damages.
Buzoianu said that in the first six months of the year, the number of inspections increased by approximately 9–10%. The identified damages reached 3.85 million lei, compared with 1.34 million lei during the same period in 2025.
The cases presented included damages of more than one million lei at the Valea Ampoiului Forestry District in Cluj County, as well as illegal logging reported in Brașov, Vâlcea, Focșani and Suceava.
