Former Environment Minister Diana Buzoianu accused the ministry’s leadership and PSD on Tuesday, at a press conference, of politicizing subordinate institutions and presenting as “unblocked” several projects that were already at an advanced stage. The statements came after Doru Cazan returned to lead Romanian Waters and following criticism from current minister Natalia Intotero regarding several projects in the field.
Buzoianu claimed that Doru Cazan had favored people close to PSD and cited an alleged loss of 20 million lei identified in Olt, as well as subsequent measures taken against several inspectors. The claims were not confirmed by other institutions during the statements.
The former minister said that the decision regarding the gravel-pit radar system was 90% drafted and that the project required only adjustments before being submitted for public transparency. She also disputed claims that the reorganization of Romsilva had been blocked, stating that the ministry had won the first-instance case concerning the suspension of the normative act; the case is now under appeal, with a hearing scheduled at the High Court in January 2027.
Buzoianu also claimed that inspections at the National Meteorological Administration were launched following older complaints and explained that the tender for the aircraft intended to monitor forests had been launched before her term in office. She also rejected criticism concerning work at Paltinu, funding for dams, and the progress of projects concerning the Danube Delta and SUMAL 3.0.
