Environmental Guard commissioners conducted inspections at Dorin Cioabă’s house, based on search warrants, and discovered approximately five tons of lead and 200 kilograms of aluminum stored without documentation proving their origin.
According to the information presented, some of the waste had allegedly been processed in an improvised facility. The lead had allegedly been melted and turned into ingots, as well as into components used to manufacture doors for radiology rooms.
For the irregularities found, the inspectors imposed fines totaling 255,000 lei and ordered the suspension of two activities. The measures concern both the storage of waste without documents and the processing operations carried out under unauthorized conditions.
During the inspections, Dorin Cioabă reportedly became unwell. According to some sources, he allegedly suffered a panic attack, and a SMURD emergency crew was requested at the scene.
