A 13-year-old student was injured in the arm with a knife by a 15-year-old classmate at a school in Cătina commune, Cluj County. The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday morning in the classroom, but police were notified by the school administration only on Thursday.
According to initial information provided by the School Inspectorate and the school administration, the two students are cousins and attend different classes. The 15-year-old allegedly had a knife and, during an act described by the principal as “play,” cut his classmate on the left arm. It is unclear where the weapon came from and how it came into the student’s possession.
Initially, the injured child reportedly said he had cut himself on a bottle. Later, the school administration learned what had allegedly happened and requested an ambulance. The student was taken to a hospital in Cluj for medical care.
Police have opened a criminal case for assault or other acts of violence. The Cluj County School Inspectorate said that, based on initial checks, the incident involved a conflict between two students, and that the investigation is ongoing.
