Traian Băsescu commented on Tuesday, during the 'News Pass' show on B1 TV, about the idea of appointing a technocrat prime minister, stating that this is not an effective solution. He emphasized that a technocrat prime minister would have to move between the party headquarters to obtain approval for acts, which would significantly diminish his authority. Băsescu characterized the support for this idea as a "nonsense" supported by those without political experience.
He also criticized the proposal to pass laws through legislative initiatives of ministers who are also parliamentarians, emphasizing that the parties have failed to respect previous protocols, which raises questions about their ability to collaborate effectively in the future. Băsescu concluded that the current political situation does not allow for the formation of a functional protocol between parties.
"The story with the technocrat is, let me say, I don't want to offend anyone, it's a nonsense supported by people who have no experience or pretend not to have experience. You cannot place a technocrat at the top of a government to do what? To go from one party headquarters to another to talk to party presidents, to beg them to pass an act or... How, likewise, is an innovation that will be a shame that some put themselves in the ridiculous situation of supporting it, we will pass laws through legislative initiatives of ministers who are also parliamentarians. Who says we will make an arrangement with the other parties? You will have a protocol of four parties and you couldn't respect it, you made it fall apart, the Government fell. And you want to tell me how many months it will take you to make a protocol now, you, these parties that can no longer stand each other, you no longer want to be in an alliance," said Traian Băsescu on Tuesday evening, on B1 TV.
