Traian Băsescu states that a prime minister should be appointed from PNL or PSD, but not Bolojan or Grindeanu: "It doesn't work with a 'surrogate prime minister'"

Traian Băsescu stated that the appointment of a technocratic government would lead to a weak executive, turning the president into a "surrogate president." Băsescu emphasizes that the delay in appointing a prime minister severely affects the political, economic, and security situation of the country, exacerbated by issues in the leadership of the army.

The former president proposes restoring the governing coalition and appointing a prime minister from the ranks of PNL, with the exception of Ilie Bolojan, or, in the absence of commitment from the liberals, a prime minister from PSD, other than Grindeanu.

Băsescu believes that the idea of a "government of mine," without parliamentary support, is a mistake, warning that such a government would be weak and undermine the authority of the president.
